Since 2005, BAM organises an international visitors programme for the visual, audiovisual and media arts. Every year, BAM invites curators from abroad to get a better knowledge of the contemporary art scene in Belgium. Curators are offered a personal programme in which they visit museums, art centres and galleries, and meet with artists and other professionals from the Belgian visual art scene.

Arts Flanders is an initiative of BAM, VTi, VAi, Muziekcentrum Vlaanderen, FARO and the Vlaams Fonds voor de Letteren, aiming at better promoting the arts and heritage from Flanders, with newsletters and a website.
Kwarts: indicators for the arts
KWARTS is the joint project of the government Agency Kunsten en Erfgoed and BAM and the other arts support centres in Flanders, to derive the most effective statistical data source from the yearly administrative reporting by organisations receiving grants.
Manual for starting visual artists
In 2012, BAM is updating the 2008 manual for visual artists starting out as professionals, in collaboration with the art departments at universities in Flanders.
International Research exchange
International professionals in the visual, audiovisual and media arts can apply for support for a specific research visit to Belgium.
Art in public spaces
BAM invited IXIA and Dr. O'Neill to consult on succesful art integrations by the Flemish Government in public spaces. Their advice is being developed into a new policy for art in public spaces in collaboration with the Flemish Government Architect's Team.
Peer group audience development visual arts
Starting Autumn 2012, a group of audience development professionals will meet up and exchange experiences working in the visual arts.
Green Track: Ghent Climate Alliance
Key artistic organisations have joined the Ghent local Climate Alliance, helping the city to transition to a more resilient arts sector in the city.
Media literacies Platform
Paul Bottelberghs devised a new approach to media litteracies, in a special commission by the Ministry of Education. The online platform hosts projects and best practices in media litteracy work. BAM acts as a host for this team of coaches and as a go-between for organisations in arts education.
Field analysis: Visual Arts
This field analysis maps actor types and functions in the visual arts and encourages the professional debate on how to ensure a succesful visual arts field. Also, the policy makers gain insight in the structure and workings of the visual arts field and adequate cultural policies.
Transition Network in the Artistic Community
A core group from BAM, Departement CJSM, Kaaitheater, VTi, Natuurpunt, Rosas, Netwerk Vlaanderen, Vredeseilanden and KHLeuven founded a transition network for the artistic community, putting forward art and culture as an agent for change.
Organizational structures and models for co-operation in the fields of music and visual arts
A research into alternative ways for co-operation and social involvement in the arts, detailing all alternative models for the 'association' structure, with extra attention for co-operative organizations.
Visual Arts Platform: European network of supportive organisations in the visual arts
BAM is working with the Mondriaan Foundation (NL), the Danish Visual Art Centre (DK), the Arts Council of England (GB), Pro Helvetia (CH) and ACAX (HU) on an international network for policy and sector-supporting organisations for contemporary visual art.
Working visits
To strengthen contacts with the sector, BAM carries out working visits to organisations and artists on a regular basis. This allows it to keep abreast of particular topics and problems in the field and to incorporate them in its objectives and studies.
