The aim of the annual orientation trip is to introduce Dutch, Flemish and international professionals in the visual arts to art and culture from Asia, Latin-America and Africa.

In March 2008 the Mondriaan Foundation with the Prins Claus Fonds and BAM organized an orientation trip to Dhaka (Bangladesh), Delhi and Mumbai (India), Abu Dhabi and Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

Participants: Defne Ayas (Performa, Shanghai), Paul Depondt (ART), Aleya Hamza (Contemporary Image Collective, Caïro), Abdellah Karoum (L'Appartement 22, Rabat), Robert Kluijver (Gemak, the Hague), Barbara Vanderlinden (Brussels Biennial, Brussels), Sofie Van Loo (independent curator, Antwerp), Emily Pethick (Casco, Utrecht), Ruud Visschedijk (Nederlands Fotomuseum, Rotterdam) and Sue-an van der Zijpp (Groninger Museum, Groningen) participated in the journey.
