project

BAM has had an international visitors' programme for the visual and media arts in Flanders since 2005. It invites some 12 foreign curators, critics or theorists to come and visit Flanders and Belgium every year.

Professionals from the cultural sector in other countries are offered a personal programme in which they meet artists and other relevant people from the sector and visit museums, arts centres, educational institutions and galleries. The programme is prepared in close consultation with the visitor. Account is taken of the visitor's actual wishes and in addition they are put in touch with artists and organisations that are not so well known internationally. In this way, BAM tries to arouse international interest in contemporary art in Flanders and enhance its position abroad. Each visit generally lasts several days, unless there are appropriate reasons for a longer stay. For more information on visitor's programme, click here.
