bio
De interesse van Alexandra Dementieva gaat vooral uit naar het toepassen van sociale psychologie en de waarneming in interactieve multimedia installaties. In haar videowerk integreert ze verschillende elementen, zoals gedragspsychologie of het verhaalontwikkeling met behulp van de subjectieve camera. Haar interactieve installatieprojecten proberen de grenzen van de waarneming te verbreken met verschillende instrumenten: computers, videoprojecties, geluidsbanden, dia's, fotografie... Door bepaalde historische, culturele en politieke allusies te maken, wordt de tentoonstellingsruimte het kader waarin een idee groeit. De projecten verkennen de dieptes van de perceptuele ervaringen van de toeschouwer en de interactie van de individuele toeschouwer met zowel de tentoonstelling op zich als met de andere bezoekers. Het object van de installatie of de productie ervan is op de duur minder belangrijk voor Dementieva dan de geest van de gebruiker. Op die manier wordt deze laatste de kern van het project of de hoofdpersoon van de performance.
