Na het studeren van literatuur, linguïstiek, een beetje filosofie, automechanica en beeldhouwen, maakte Guy Van Belle eind jaren tachtig een radicale switch naar computer muziek. Sinds 1990 is hij bezig met de brede waaier van experimentele media. Hij is medeoprichter en artistiek directeur van de door kunstenaars gerunde organisatie OKNO in Brussel.
Zijn belangrijkste virtuele organisaties zijn Stellingname (1984-1989), Young Farmers Caim Future (1990-2000), dBonanzah (1998-2002), mXHz.org (2002-...) en Society of Algorithm (2004-...). Deze organisaties richten zich op collaborerend onderzoek naar de vele verschillende vormen van creativiteit van werkelijke en niet-fysieke personen, ondermeer machines. Zijn werk is vooral synesthetisch, real-time generated, abstract, algoritmisch en stap voor stap neemt het afstand van de bekende settings, parameters en technieken van productie, tentoonstellen en receptie van het kunstwerk zoals we het vandaag de dag kennen. Hij schrijft kritisch-komische pamfletten over kunst en technologie vanuit een antipostmodernistische en antineoliberale achtergrond.
