The presence of landscapes.

When looking at the work of Juan Duque, one can perceive an obsessive presence of landscapes.
The main of his actions is to reveal the process of his intense observation and interpretation together with associations and references to cultural and personal experiences.
In his artworks he is concerned about processes of de-territorialization and re-territorialization, especially the displacement of meaning from objects, images, and places. He prefers to focus on in-between situations provoked by these displacements.
By working on in-situ installations, he explores and considers characteristics of the space that are normally overlooked.
Like in archeology, processes in his work are the consequence of finding and revealing marks, traces and layers of information. By this means, he would like the visitor to get involved in a multi-sensory experience where negotiation with the space might bring agreement, but also confrontation and uncertainty about the notion of place and memory.
