bio
Tom Bogaert is a performance and installation artist, who focuses on creating interactive pieces that are politically inspired. Before beginning his art career, he conducted refugee field research in Africa and Asia for the United Nations and Amnesty International. Though Tom Bogaert often deals with difficult themes and subjects, he maintains a degree of lightness and humor in his work. The seriousness of the work and subject matter are often masked by this humor and by an intentional lack of high-production values. Tom Bogaert makes art that encourages viewers to interact and participate in serious scenarios.
