Argos' extensive collections are both a starting-point for genealogy and archaeology, as well as sparking off a multitude of associations and correlations. From the numerous media works, catalogues and publications several trajectories can be drawn, and diverse frames of reference for reflections on culture, art, media and society today can be created. In this way the archive is used as a public space, which does not merely take stock of the past and classify it, but reinterprets and re-activates it as well.
Open Archive #2 will feature a series of presentations of Argos' new acquisitions, thematic screenings, artists' presentations, lecture series by leading curators and museum directors, Archive Matters (a programme concerning the practice of conserving and archiving audiovisual art) , concerts and performances. Finally, Argos will also be presenting the group show Walking the Hinterland in its spaces curated by Brent Klinkum.
Presented and invited artists and persons include Herman Asselberghs, Justin Bennett, Erik Bünger, Jef Cornelis, Raphael Cuomo & Maria Iorio, Peter Downsbrough, Pieter Geenen, Andrea Geyer, Alexander Kluge, Adam Leech, Boris Lehman, Ralo Mayer, Minhea Mircan, Mathias Michalka, Angel Vergara, and many others.
