Francis Alÿs was born in Antwerp (1959), he lives and works in Mexico City. This exhibition is his first major solo exhibition in Belgium and includes key works along with more recent ones, such as video-installations, paintings, drawings, installations and documents. Alÿs uses several different techniques but the starting point for each project is always a performative action, which is followed in other media. During his walks, seemingly without any goal, Alÿs observes and records apparently pointless events and actions and transforms them into poetic images or utopian interventions, which undermine the irrefutable fatality of our world.

Three other exhibitions are also on view until January 16:
- Kasper Akhøj : After the Fair
- Lorna Macintyre : Granite and Rainbow
- Evelyne Axell : Contestatory Images
