The E-Culture Fair 2010 will take place at the new U - Centre for Art and Creativity in Dortmund from 23 to 25 August 2010 as part of RUHR.2010 cultural capital of Europe and ISEA2010 RUHR (16th International Symposium on Electronic Art). It is an initiative by and a collaboration between BAM Belgium, Virtueel Platform from the Netherlands, and Medienwerk NRW from Nordrhein-Westfalen and is hosted by Hartware MedienKunstVerein.
WHAT IS THE E-CULTURE FAIR 2010 ABOUT?
- E-Culture Fair 2010 is an international event and meeting place for the exchange and showcasing of new projects for those who work at the intersection between art, (media) technology, culture, design research and creative industry.
- The E-Culture Fair consists of an exhibition of selected works, demos, live presentations, workshops and an open art lab.
- In the social setting of the beautiful U-Centre for Art and Creativity in Dortmund you will
present your own work and meet a worldwide, European, regional and local audience (ISEA2010 RUHR, RUHR.2010, participants from the Ruhr area, the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as from the city of Dortmund), many other interesting cultural and creative people and organisations, makers and developers as well as a selection of the best recent e-cultural projects developed in the Netherlands, Belgium and NRW. - The event will highlight the huge innovative potential of collaboration between art, research and creative industry in an accessible manner. Visitors will have the opportunity of meeting the people behind the projects. In addition, the event will provide an impulse for more cooperation between the various actors and organisations in the densely populated regional triangle between the Netherlands, Belgium, and North Rhine Westphalia (NRW).
What are we looking for? PARTICIPANT'S PROFILE:
- This call is intended especially for organisations, schools of higher education, universities, companies and individuals who wish to present their projects at the E-Culture Fair 2010.
- By projects we mean creations, work-in-progress, products, methods or services that are culturally relevant and result from a collaboration between culture, research, science and/or industry. The projects can be tools, methods, products or services developed by artists; coming out of research and development from experimental labs; out of creative industries; higher education or universities.
- We are looking specifically for projects where cooperation and exchange is valuable for the participating parties and for the project they realise together. As working title we are using "For more than one". We are especially interested in projects for multiple users, interesting combinations between the possibilities of (networked) mediatechnologies and the physical space. We look for interesting projects that bring social interaction, (inside or outside) to tangible interfaces, and new ways of playing and learning.
- The projects do not have to be necessarily high-tech, but were made using, or made possible by, digital media or other new technologies.
- Projects should be inspiring and appealing: in the end we seek a good balance between projects of interest to everyone, and projects for a specialist public.
- In our selection we look at the degree of innovation, the feasability of presentation, to creativity, and cultural, social, or artistic relevance.
- This call is specifically intended for Belgian participants. Similar calls are being spread in the Netherlands and Germany.
