BAM'S INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES

BAM organises various activities with the aim of building lasting international relations and stimulating exchange and cooperation so that the Flemish arts scene also gains identity, visibility and positioning at an international level.

Visitorsprogramme

Curators and critics from abroad are regularly invited to Flanders for a visit of several days. They are offered a tailormade programme including personal conversations with artists and visits to museums, galleries and other arts organisations.

Orientation trips

Since 2007 BAM has taken part in the orientation trips organised by the Mondriaan Stichting and the Prins Claus Fonds. The aim of these trips is to put Dutch, Flemish and other international art professionals in touch with the art and culture of lesser-known regions. These trips are also an opportunity for an exchange of knowledge, views and perceptions and to stimulate international networking.

International Networking

BAM organises regular working visits to professional gatherings to advance the inclusion of Flemish artists and organisations in international networks. By cooperating closely with the other arts support centres, BAM enhances its internationally-oriented work and plans working visits and encounters with other disciplines abroad. With the Mondriaan Stichting, BAM is working on increasing cooperation between support centres and agencies in other European countries in the form of a European policy network for visual art.

Newsletters

The BAM provides interested parties abroad with information on the Flemish arts scene by means of English-language newsletters. The international BAM newsletter is bimonthly and lists exhibitions by Flemish artists abroad, plus an overview of the main exhibitions in Flanders. In cooperation with the other Flemish cultural support centres, BAM also issues the international ARTS FLANDERS newsletter. In addition to information on visual, media and audiovisual art, it also includes news on architecture, theatre, music, literature and the heritage.

International links

The international database offers an overview of the most important cultural information centres in Europe and provides a list of interesting international networks and databases.
