Aifoon vzw
bio
Aifoon is an art education organisation that places sound at the heart of audio-visual communications. By making their own audio recordings and compositions, participants learn to listen and conceptualise in a different way. They learn to work with flash recorders, photo and video equipment, computers with editing software and the Internet. Aifoon is more than just a course in knowing which buttons to push; it is about being critical and creative using new media as a tool.
The key project of Aifoon is called TRAJEcT.
TRAJEcT stems from the sounds in the world of children. Children are asked to record their experiences on their way home from school, first in sound and then in images. Their one-minutes recordings are uploaded onto the website (www.aifoon.org/traject). By making new compositions on this website, children from different regions beyond national and language borders are able to communicate effectively with one another audio-visually.
TRAJEcT is being developed within the educational system for primary and secondary education. Workshops, educational study days, further education days and practical training courses are also being organised for teachers and ICT supervisors. In so doing, we add our support to the plea for including audio-visual communications in the educational curriculum.
Aifoon also develops customised courses
In the past, Aifoon has organised workshops for film festivals (such as OpenDoek Turnhout and for the European Youth Film Festivals in Bruges and Antwerp) as well as creating partnerships with the cultural sector (Champ d'Action, OffOff Artcinema, STAM, KMSKa, SMAK, MuHKA_media, WAF, Bijloke concert hall, etc.).
Aifoon also designs courses tailored to specific audiences such as the elderly, prisoners, young people with psychological problems, etc.
All projects stem from the same methodology and form part of the same vision.
Aifoon is an artistic audio-visual project that encourages authenticity among people in their most creative being to communicate audio-visually about their experiences through new media.
This audio-visual process has also proved its effectiveness on the Aifoon website. It is the tool 'par excellence' for demonstrating audio-visual results and for enabling people to 'communicate': www.aifoon.org.
