Van 29 juni tot 9 september 2012 loopt in The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas de tentoonstelling 'The Future of Yesterday: Photographs of Architectural Remains at World's Fairs' van de Belgische kunstenaar Ives Maes.
Ives Maes exploreert de architectuur op locaties van de wereldtentoonstellingen zoals ze er vandaag uitzien - vaak decennia nadat de evenementen plaatsvonden. Het werk van Maes biedt een alternatieve blik op de utopische visie die gepresenteerd werd op deze wereldtentoonstellingen. De kunstenaar nodigt de kijker uit om de optimistische hoop van de wereldtentoonstellingen en de realiteit van vandaag te exploreren.
