Sol LeWitt. Colors
21 June - 14 October 2012
Until June 20th, a large team of professional drafters of the LeWitt Studio are working together with young artists and students from six Belgian art schools at the creation of the exhibition Sol LeWitt. Colors.
Following detailed instructions and diagrams from Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) they execute twenty-five monumental wall-drawings directly onto the walls of the exhibition venue. The conceptual wall drawings by LeWitt are ground-breaking in the history of contemporary art. From June 21 this exhibition at M–Museum Leuven will constitute the largest ensemble of LeWitt's wall drawings ever on view in Belgium.
This is the very first time Sol LeWitt's wall drawings can be seen on a large scale in Belgium. While M Museum presents an overview of his wall drawings in colour, the Centre Pompidou in Metz is organising a parallel exhibition focusing on his black and white wall drawings.
