02/03/2012

vaf_toplogo.jpgFlanders House and Visual Arts Flanders 2012 take pleasure in inviting you to the exclusive presentation and breakfast with Philippe Van Cauteren (Director S.M.A.K. museum Ghent and curator of TRACK) and Hedwig Fijen (Director Manifesta Foundation, Amsterdam) on Saturday March 10 from 10 am until 12 pm
in the Open Forum Media Lounge
at Pier 94, 12th Avenue 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019.

Visual Arts Flanders 2012 is an international communication platform that connects 5 contemporary art exhibitions in Belgium into one coherent cluster: Beaufort04 (Belgian coast), TRACK (Ghent), Middelheim Museum 2012 (Antwerp), Manifesta 9 (Genk) and Newtopia (Mechelen). In 2012, Belgium's neighbouring countries also offer major happenings in contemporary art such as dOCUMENTA (13) (Kassel, Germany), London 2012 – the Cultural Olympiad (UK), lille3000: Fantastic (France) and MONO 2012 (Centre Pompidou-Metz, France together with Mudam, Luxembourg).

Manifesta is the roving European Biennial of Contemporary Art, often placing new focus on peripheral, lesser-known regions whose geography, history or socio-economic context suggest interesting themes for contemporary visual artists. Along with the Venice Biennale and documenta in Kassel, Manifesta is one of the leading art events in Europe. This year, Manifesta will take place in Genk, Limburg, Belgium, just 30 kilometers from Maastricht, from June 2 until September 30.

This event will be hosted by Visual Arts Flanders 2012 and Manifesta, with the kind support of Flanders House, New York. Please reply to Charline Adriaens, before March 7: charline.adriaens@bamart.be

Applications are accepted on a first come first served basis.

We are looking forward to welcoming you. This invitation is valid for two persons. Please print this invitation and present it upon request.
