Influence IV: Nikolay Oleynikov (Chto Delat)
15 December 2011 - 11 February 2012
Zero Gravity Revolt is the first solo presentation of the acclaimed Russian group Chto Delat in Belgium. In collaboration with young artists and dancers based in Belgium, a new work will be created in the space of Komplot. It will consist of a large mural based on the themes borrowed from the early Soviet science fiction of the 1920s - 1930s. One of the topics we will investigate is how labour was seen and depicted. In describing the societies of the future, the sci-fi writers of this period oscillated between the abolishion of labour, its extreme technologization, or the hyper-acceleration of it. Others insisted on creative and unalienated labour - the only kind the future should have. Ultimately, we will ask how the artistic labour today resonates with these ideas.
A learning mural curated by Elena Sorokina.
