IDFA, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, is one of the world's leading documentary film festivals. It is unique for its international film program, the variety of genres, its politically committed program and the many European and world premieres featured each year.

This year the winner of the Best Student Documentary is 'What's in a name' by the Flemish director Eva Küpper. The jury explained the decision as followed: "With great respect and sincere love the filmmaker invites us into the world of a tender human being. Jon Cory is a body art performer playing with and questioning his identity. Through barrier-breaking access and outstanding images the filmmaker allows us to get under his skin, to explore the most intimate details of Jon. From a strange, far away world he reaches out to us and makes us fall in love with him. It's a true masterpiece."

Earlier this year What's in a name  was the winner of an Honorary Mention at DOCVILLE 2010,  of the Jury Prize for Best Film of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts at the Intl. Film Festival of Gent 2010 and has been nominated for The International Documentary Film Festival of Toronto.
