Spain - Barcelona - MACBA - Are You Ready For TV?
04/11/2010November 5, 2010 - April 25, 2011
This is not an exhibition about television, but one conceived from the place of television. Its ail is to show what happens when a relationship is established between such different languages as television, art and philosophy, and to study how very different ways of grasping the image and the life of concepts contribute to tracing the horizon of culture today. The show has been curated by Chus Martinez, Chief Curator at MACBA, with the collaborations of Dora Garcia, who has extensively researched the relation between performance and television, Isidoro Valcarcel Medina, Albert Serra and artist and filmmaker Johan Grimonprez, who in recent years has worked on the relation between television and the construction of the political.
Artists and philosophers whose programs for television are included are, among many others: Martha Rosler, Jean-Luc Godard, Anne Marie Miéville, Jef Cornellis, David Lamelas, Guy Debord, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Richard Serra, Carlota Fay Schoolman, Chris Burden and Andy Warhol.
