The Flemish artist Philippe Vandenberg (°1952) made an end to his life on Monday evening, 29th June. With it Belgium loses of one of its most outstanding painters. During his life Philippe Vandenberg fought the impasse between history, actuality, world 'pain' and personal tragedy with an oeuvre that shakes and grates, ascends in love and hubris and crashes or shatters in grief.
The farewell ceremony will take place at the Verbeke Foundation art site, Westakker, Kemzeke, on Friday 10th July 2009 at 10am.
The funeral will follow at the cemetery of Sint-Amandsberg, Campo Santo in the circle of his family and intimate friends.
