For several years the Mondrian Foundation, in association with the Prins Claus Fonds and BAM, organizes a foreign orientation trip for Flemish, Dutch and foreign art professionals. Starting in 2009 Office for Contemporary Art (OCA) of Oslo will be participating by including 2 curators from Norway.
The annual orientation trip has as its purpose to familiarize Flemish, Dutch and international art professionals with the art and culture of Asia, Latin America and Africa. Participants will get insight into the artistic developments of less-known but interesting regions, make new contacts, and have the opportunity to develop new ideas and initiatives. The purpose of the trip is to create opportunities for exchanging knowledge and ideas, to strengthen international network as well as to stimulate international cooperative projects.
The overall aims of the travels are:
- to provide information about the contemporary arts scene in the visited countries;
- to contribute to a better understanding of different culturs
- to enable the interaction between professionals from cultural institutions here and abroad;
- to create a (multi-disciplinary) network for future collaborations between all parties involved;
- to offer a platform for intercultural debate;
- to increase the level of dialogue and communication via future joint ventures.
